What is GMP+
GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance) is a certification scheme developed by GMP+ International (Netherlands). The standard covers the entire feed chain: from raw material production to the supply of finished feed to animals.
Certification confirms that a company:

• Controls feed safety at all stages of production
• Applies HACCP principles and a traceability system
• Complies with EU feed hygiene legislation
• Undergoes regular independent audits by an accredited certification body

Who Needs GMP+ Certification
The standard covers companies operating in the feed chain:

• Compound feed and premix manufacturers — GMP+ B1, B2
• Feed ingredient producers — oil extraction plants, starch plants, molasses and meal producers
• Trade and storage — grain traders, elevators, warehouses
• Transport — carriers of feed products
• Feed additive manufacturers — vitamins, amino acids, minerals

Access to EU Markets
A GMP+ certificate is a practical requirement for supplying feed products to most European compound feed manufacturers. Without it, market access is closed.
Mutual Recognition
GMP+ has mutual recognition agreements with leading schemes: EFISC-GTP, QS (Germany), OVOCOM (Belgium), AIC (United Kingdom), FAMI-QS and others. This means your clients certified under these schemes can purchase from you without additional audits.

How Certification Works
Stage 1 — Document Audit
Review of the feed safety management system documentation for compliance with GMP+ requirements.
Stage 2 — On-site Audit
Auditors verify the actual functioning of the system at the facility: production processes, laboratory control, traceability, supplier management.
Certificate Issuance
Upon successful completion of both audit stages, a GMP+ certificate is issued. Annual surveillance audits are conducted to maintain certification.
