FSSC has announced the development process for FSSC 22000 version 7
FSSC 22000 version 7 is currently under development and is expected to be published in late Q1 or early Q2 2026. This version aims to enhance the existing food safety management system by integrating several key enhancements.
Key innovations in version 7 1. Integration of the ISO 22002-x:2025 series: A new series of prerequisite program standards will be included, strengthening the foundation for food safety practices. 2. Alignment with GFSI Benchmarking v2024 requirements: This will ensure that the scheme is aligned with the latest Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards. 3. Support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The updated version will include enhanced requirements to help organizations contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. 4. Improvement of the structure of food chain categories: A clearer structure for dividing food chain categories will be provided, which will improve clarity and applicability. 5. Editorial changes and continuous improvement: Various editorial changes will be made as part of the ongoing efforts to improve the scheme.
Transition period After the publication of version 7, certification bodies and certified organizations will be given a 12-month transition period to implement the new requirements. This period will allow for a smooth transition and adaptation to the new standards.
